Philippians 4:6-8 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

I want you to stop and think about a gift that meant a lot to you. It could’ve been something you really wanted or never would’ve thought to ask for, but when you got it your life changed for the better and you wouldn’t want to go back to not having it! That is what it feels like when we allow God to work in our minds! Track with me and I’ll connect the dots, I promise.

Here are the three gifts we are given when we allow God to work in our minds:

1. We Release

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” – Philippians 4:6

We don’t have to carry worry, but we can give it to the father. I’ve heard before that “Worry is like a rocking chair. It’ll give you something to do, but it will never get you anywhere.”

God cares about anything we care about. He wants us to have faith in him and believe that he wants to care of us. When we actively choose to pray to him about everything , we are deciding to trust that God will take care of us like he promised. Thank God we can come to him at any time for anything.

2. We Receive

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7

When we are obedient to trust God then we receive the gift of peace. Have you ever needed a favor and somebody said to you “Don’t worry, I got it.” Those words bring comfort to us because we know that whatever it was we needed is now taken care of. We are allowed that peace all the time no matter what the circumstances are. This can be acknowledging what is causing worry, but choosing to agree that God is taking care of it.

You may have lost a job , but choose to believe that God is your provider. You may have family issues going on , but choose to believe that God will work it out. Your work load may feel overwhelming, but choose to believe that God will carry you through this season.

We can have all the peace we choose to receive!

3. We’re refreshed

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” – Philippians 4:8

Not only do we leave our worries with God , but He’s always faithful to leave us better than we came! Can you remember a time when you laughed so hard that your stomach hurt and you felt really good after? When God does a work in our minds, we can take a step back and start to agree with what is true: God is good. I am His, His plans for me are good. He is for me. No weapon formed against what God has for me will prosper! I am loved. I have provision. I have safety. I have all that I need. And God will always finish the good work that He started. This leaves us with that same, “Oh, I needed that laugh” kind of feeling.

We always have access to abandon what kills our peace and pick up what God meant for us to carry.

Let us remember that God wants the best for us and anything that is not the best, is not for us. When we allow God to do a work in our minds, we release what we were not designed to carry, we receive God’s peace, and we get refreshed to move forward!
