Devotional by Anthony Brown
This week’s devotional thought is by an incredible leader and BC alumni, Anthony Brown. If you’ve been wanting a quick refocusing and encouragement to keep pushing in your faith, this devo is just for you. Let’s dig in and receive!
I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to follow Jesus I want to follow Him wholeheartedly - keeping it 100%. Let’s take a look at a scripture that will show us how we can do that.
“Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11 (NLT)
4 Keys to Keeping it 100%:
1. Be Joyful:
- Do you know someone who is a Christian but is actually not enjoyable to be around?
- As Christians we have the GREATEST reason to have joy and to celebrate. Jesus rose from the dead to save us from sin. So, as Christians, we should be known as people who are passionate, excited, joyful and actually enjoyable to be around. #norudechristiansallowed
2. Grow to Maturity:
- We should be continually growing in maturity in our faith. Just because we call ourselves “Christian” does not mean we are growing or mature.
- How do we grow? We grow through reading the Bible, worshipping God and belonging to a body of believers. Relationship with God and others will definitely help sharpen and grow you to a new level of maturity.
3. Encourage Each Other:
- As a culture, it’s easy to discourage people. But what takes COURAGE is to actually encourage someone.
- Let’s be known for how we encourage one another. Take a moment and think about one person you can encourage this week. Determine to get outside of your comfort zone and go encourage someone.
4. Live in Harmony and Peace:
- When we became a Christian, we gave up our right to gossip and talk negatively about people. That is no longer who we are.
- Our responsibility now is to bring hope into hopeless situations, to give grace to people who feel beat up, and to show mercy to those who don’t deserve it!
- Let’s work to bring harmony in peace into every environment we walk into!
Great job, Anthony! We are so encouraged by your leadership and genuine heart towards God’s people. Keep leading strong!
